Rod Owen, a featured member of the popular “Drury Outdoors” video series, will be the special guest Saturday at the fourth annual National Wild Turkey Federation banquet in Iola.
The 5 p.m. banquet will be at the Iola American Legion Post 15, 712 W. Patterson Ave.
Owen, a Blue Springs, Mo., native, is the head guide at the Hi-Point Hunting Club in Breckenridge, Mo. He specializes in deer and turkey hunts.
Outdoor enthusiasts likely know him from the “Drury Outdoors” series, which broadcasts on The Outdoor Channel (Channel 258 for Cox Communications subscribers in Iola).
Owen works as a construction superintendent when he’s not on the hunt.
Doors open at 4:30 for the banquet. Advance tickets are available for $40 for single guests or $55 for couples at Westside Bait, Iola Pharmacy or Shields Barber Shop, or by calling Don Erbert, 365-0446, Jennifer Foster, 496-8062, or Neil Crane, 228-1448. Tickets at the door sell for an additional $5 apiece.
A drawing and silent auction is planned as well.
The event is sponsored by NWTF’s Kansas First Uplands Pioneers Chapter, a group dedicated to the conservation of habitat and wildlife.
