MVJV 8th-grade girls take second

YATES CENTER — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s Makayla Brooks continues to pile up the gold this track and field season.

Brooks pulled in three gold medals, winning the long jump, 100- and 200-meter dashes for the Wildcat eighth-grade girls, while classmate Shelby Yoho won the 1600-meter run.

The winning marks helped Marmaton Valley’s girls to take second as a team at the Yates Center Invitational.

In all, Marmaton Valley athletes compiled 11 other top-three finishes.

Eighth Grade

Makayla Brooks, 1. long jump, 15’ 1/2”; 1. 100 meters, 13.91; 1. 200 meters, 28.88.

Megan Ensminger, 3. 800 meters, 2:56.

Shelby Yoho, 1. 1600 meters, 6:28; 2. 800 meters, 2:51.

Medley relay (Clara Boyd, Emily Smart, Ensminger, Yoho), 3. 2:17.
