PLEASANTON — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s girls won both the A-team and B-team basketball games Thursday against host Pleasanton Junior High’s Blu-Jay girls.
The Wildcats got out to an 8-5 halftime lead on their way to the 23-14 victory in A-team play. Mackenzie Tynon fired in 15 points for the Wildcats. Cheyenne English added six and Tessa Olson had two points.
“The girls used the press effectively, allowing us to get turnovers and extend our lead,” said Brenda Mills, MVJH girls’ head coach. “The girls played hard and worked together.”
In B-team action, Marmaton Valley set the tone with a 12-0 halftime lead. The Wildcats notched a 21-11 victory.
Samantha rook led the way with eight points and Tynon had six points. Misty Storrer had four points, Kyla Drake tossed in two and Brooklynn Newman had one point.
Pleasanton won the C-team game 8-0.
Mills said in the B-team game, they were able to rotate in the younger players to get playing experience. The C-team was hampered by injuries, Mills said.
Marmaton Valley’s next game is Jan. 6 at Crest.
