Marmaton Valley Junior High saw the full spectrum of emotions Saturday at Iola’s Net Games volleyball tournament.

The Wildcat B team won its first two matches, defeating Independence 25-22 and 25-24 before toppling host Iola 25-17 and 25-16.

Twice, Marmaton Valley came from 10-point disadvantages, head coach Brenda MIlls said.

“Everything was working, and then we just lost it,” Mills said. “We weren’t talking, and we came up short.”

Marmaton Valley ended the day with losses to Chanute, 25-17 and 25-15, and then Humbodlt 25-19 and 25-20, to end up in third place.

“After a long break, we lost our momentum and couldn’t recover,” Mills said.

Evva Sander paced Marmaton Valley with 17 points, followed by Addisyn Drake with 16, Adisyn Pritchard with f14, Myleigh Eslick with 11, Layla Cook 10 and Mahala Burris seven.

Marmaton Valley was at home Monday against Northeast and will host Yates Center on Thursday.
