OSWEGO — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s basketball teams had a rough go of it on the road Monday. TRINITEE Gutierrez’s eight points led the Wildcat girls A team. Shayla Brooks followed with six. Isabelle Bigelow and Megan Ensminger both scored four. Makayla Brooks had two and Kaitlyn Knavel one.
The Wildcat boys fell by scores of 43-32 in the A team contest and 33-25 in the B team affair.
On the girls side, Oswego’s aggressive man-to-man defense led to a 30-25 win over Marmaton Valley in the A team matchup. The Indians defeated Marmaton Valley 17-12 in the B team contest.
Justice Pugh poured in a game-high 18 points to lead the way for the A team boys, including eight in a fourth-quarter comeback attempt. He was followed by Trevor Wilson with six points, Tristan Fraker with four and Brock Hall and Korbin Smith with two apiece.
Caiden Elliott took the high scoring honors for the Wildcat B team, scoring 17 points. Isaac Heskett chipped in with four. Gage Griffith and Kiefer Endicott added two apiece.
Knavel’s six points led the Wildcat girls in the B team game. Shailee Woods added four and Paige Becker had two.
