MVJH girls play opener

OSWEGO — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s girls and boys opened their season Monday at Oswego.
The MVJHS girls lost 37-15 in A-team play. Mackenzie Tynon fired in 12 points for the Wildcats. Lindsey McNeil had two points and Tessa Olson scored one.
The girls also lost a B-team game 29-18. Mariah Root scored 13 points. Kyla Drake added three and Tynon had two points.
“Now that we have a game under our belt we can see some things we need to work on,” said Brenda Mills, MVJH girls’ coach. “We have a young team with six eighth-graders, four seventh-graders and seven sixth-graders.”
Coach Mills said the girls will continue to work on fundamentals. In both games Monday, she said the girls played hard to the end.
There was no report on the boys’ games.
The MVJH girls and boys host Westphalia tonight.
