UNIONTOWN — Winning four out of five matches is a good night’s work for Marmaton Valley Junior High’s volleyball girls.
Marmaton Valley’s A-team won both of its matches Thursday. It beat host Uniontown 25-16, 25-6 and Jayhawk-Linn 16-25, 25-18, 15-5.
For the two matches, Shauna Knight served up 20 points for the Wildcats and Cheyenne English had 15 service points. Kaysha Elmenhorst had 11 points on the service line and Emily Boyd had nine. Tessa Olson served for four points.
“It was great teamwork to get the wins. The girls came together and took control of the court,” said Jamie Stodgell, MVJH head coach. “This A-team bunch is a fun group to watch.”
The Wildcat B-team split matches winning 25-14, 25-17 against Uniontown and losing 25-12, 25-17 to Jayhawk-Linn.
Kyla Drake led the B-team with 13 service points followed by Kendra McNutt with 11 for the two matches. Misty Storrer had nine points from the service line followed by Mackenzie Tynon with five, Tanna Lutz with four, Molly Hamlin with two and Emily Plaschka with one point.
“The girls played with team effort all night even when playing Jayhawk-Linn,” said Brenda Mills, MVJH assistant coach. “They never quit playing. Our serving came together again for us to get wins.”
The other victory was a C-team 25-11 win over Uniontown. Drake served for 12 points followed by McNutt with three, Plaschka with two and Storrer with one point.
