ARMA — Didn’t matter if it was at home or on the road, Marmaton Valley Junior High’s volleyball A-team racked up wins.
The Wildcats defeated host Northeast-Arma Thursday 24-21, 25-15 to go undefeated in league play. They were 9-1 overall.
“These girls had a tremendous season. They played with so much enthusiasm and spirit every night,” said Jamie Stodgell, MVJH head coach.
“Their teamwork is what makes them winners on the court. They were a great group to work with.”
Emily Boyd and Tessa Owens each served for seven points. Shauna Knight and Kaysha Elmenhorst had six service points each. Cheyenne English and MaKenzie Harrison had three service points each.
Northeast defeated Marmaton Valley in B-team play 35-19, 19-25, 15-10. The Wildcats were 3-7 on the year.
Mackenzie Tynon and Kyla Drake each had nine service points. Misty Storrer served up six points. Kendra McNutt served five and Tanna Lutz had two points.
Marmaton Valley’s C-team this year featured six sixth-graders. It went 4-0 with a 25-21, 25-9 win Thursday at Arma.
Misty Storrer served for 13 points and Kyla Drake had 10 points. Emily Plaschka served up seven points. Magie Stevenson had four service points and Kendra McNutt had three points.
“Our B-team came up short in matches this year. We just kept trying combinations of sixth- and eighth-graders along with our two seventh-graders,” said Brenda Mills, MVJH assistant coach.
Mills said the sixth-grade girls played well all season. She said sixth-graders played the entire C-team schedule and played well at the B-team level.
