ST. PAUL — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s football team got things off on the right foot Thursday.

The Wildcats led host St. Paul 22-0 by the end of the first quarter and 34-0 at halftime before the game was stopped in the fourth quarter when the point spread reached 50-0.

The Wildcats had several stars to lead the way.

Todd Stevenson, Brevyn Campbell, Cooper Scharff, Garrett Morrison and Tyler Lord all scored rushing touchdowns. All had two-point conversions as well, head coach Dan Uhlrich noted.

Campbell also returned an interception for a score.

Up front, Wildcat blockers Wyatt Burnett, Mason Ferguson, Chris Ferguson and the aforementioned Campbell paved the way by opening holes along the line for the skill players to exploit.

“There were things we need to work on,” Uhlrich said. “We had a fumble. Turnovers are always something we emphasize. But we had so many positive things.”

Marmaton Valley takes on Yates Center Thursday.
