Marmaton Valley High’s basketball teams found out their pairings for the opening round of next week’s Kansas Class 2A substate tournament at Mound City.
The 2011 Kansas Class 2A Substate Basketball Tournament is hosted by Jayhawk-Linn High School.
Marmaton Valley’s boys (7-12) were seeded No. 6 and play at No. 3 Madison (12-8) at 7 p.m. Monday. The winner of that game plays the winner of No. 2 Lyndon (13-7) and No. 7 Mission Valley (5-15) in a semifinal game Thursday.
Burlingame (13-6) is the top seed in the boys’ bracket and it hosts No. 8 Chase County (4-15) Monday. Also Monday, No. 4 Northern Heights (10-9) hosts Jayhawk-Linn (10-10), the fifth seed. Winners meet in a semifinal Thursday.
Marmaton Valley’s girls (3-16) earned the No. 7 seed and play at No. 2 seeded Lyndon (13-7) at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The winner plays the winner of No. 3 Madison (12-8) and No. 6 Northern Heights (9-10) in a Friday semifinal.
Burlingame (14-5) is the top seed for the girls and hosts No. 8 Mission Valley (2-18) Tuesday. Fourth-seeded Chase County (11-8) hosts No. 5 Jayhawk-Linn (10-10) on Tuesday. Winners meet in a semifinal on Friday.
The championship games are at 6 p.m., girls, and 7:30 p.m., boys, Saturday in Mound City.
For substate tournament games, admission prices are set by Kansas State High School Activities Association. No school or league passes are honored at home or at Jayhawk-Linn High School, which is hosting the semifinals and finals on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Admission prices for first-round games are $5 for adults and $4 for children (K-12).
Prekindergarten age children are admitted free.
For semifinals and championship games at Jayhawk-Linn, admission prices are $6 for adults and $5 for children (K-12).
