RICHMOND — Marmaton Valley High’s Wildcat softball team opened the 2012 season Monday. They dropped two run-ruled decisions to host Central Heights High’s Viking girls.
The Wildcats lost 12-0 in five innings then fell 16-1 in three innings to Central Heights.
Central Heights scored four runs each in the first, third and fourth innings in the opener. Tabitha Ford was the losing pitcher for Marmaton Valley, giving up four hits, nine walks, hitting two batters and striking out one.
Kailey Boyd and Caysha Houk each had a single.
Central Heights plated six runs each in the first inning and third inning with a four-run second frame in the second game. Marmaton Valley scored its run in the third.
Boyd pitched for the Wildcats. She allowed 12 hits and six walks.
Houk doubled for Marmaton Valley. Boyd and Kaitlin Ensminger each had a base hit.
Marmaton Valley hosts Yates Center Thursday.
