MVHS baseball team drops four

Marmaton Valley High’s baseball team dropped four straight games at the end of last week.
The Wildcats lost a slug-fest 15-10 to Jayhawk-Linn High’s Jayhawks on Thursday in a home doubleheader. They also lost 6-0.
On Friday, the Wildcats traveled to Arma to play Northeast High’s Vikings in Three Rivers League action and lost 9-1 and 12-0.
The Wildcats are 1-9 overall and 0-4 in the TRL.
In Thursday’s opener, the Jayhawks outscored the Wildcats 15-10. Daylen Houk hit a grand slam for Marmaton Valley and had a double.
Derrick Carr and Ryan Smith each had three singles and Austin Harrison hit two singles. Jimmy Frye doubled and Gage Stewart singled.
Frye was the losing pitcher, allowing 12 hits, walking three, hitting three batters and striking out four.
The Jayhawks beat the Wildcats 6-0 in the second game. Carr took the loss on the mound, giving up seven hits and striking out three.
Cole Becker had a single and a double. Frye singled.
On Friday, Northeast blew open a tight game in the sixth inning, scoring seven runs for the final 9-1 margin. Becker was the losing pitcher for Marmaton Valley and Frye pitched a third of an inning.
Frye had a double and a single and Harrison had two singles. Hitting a single each were Carr, Houk, Stewart, Chris Bowman and Levi Ramsey.
Northeast scored four runs in the first inning and ended up beating Marmaton Valley 12-0 in five innings. Carr was the losing pitcher.
Becker had two base hits for the Wildcats. Harrison and Smith each had a single.
Marmaton Valley hosts Central Heights today.
