ARMA — Marmaton Valley High’s softball came up empty in a pair of road contests Monday, dropping 5-2 and 15-5 decisions to host Northeast.
The Wildcats were held without a hit in the opener until rallying in the top of the fifth.
Tayven Sutton was hit by a pitch, and Kendall Scharff followed with a walk to start the rally.
Both wound up scoring after Madi Lawson reached base, then Gracie Yoho followed with a single — all with nobody out.
But the Wildcats could not inflict any more damage. Sutton added a sixth-inning single, and Lawson led off the seventh with a base hit for the rest of Wildcat offense.
In the nightcap, Marmaton Valley’s offense came in the third and fourth innings. Aly Ard drilled a one-out double to start the three-run third. Peyton and Kendall Scharff and Lawson all had singles in the frame. Brooklyn Adams and Mary Brown were hit by pitches to start the fourth inning. Aly Ard smacked a double as well to aid the rally, but the hits ran dry from there, aside from another Ard single in the fifth.
The Wildcats are back in action Thursday at Jayhawk-Linn.
