MOUND CITY — Marmaton Valley High’s softball team had a tough go of it on offense and defense Monday.
The Wildcats were limited to two hits on offense — none in the second game — while Marmaton Valley’s pitchers walked a combined 20 batters over the two games.
The resulting losses, both by scores of 19-0, put the team in a dour mood.
“There’s not a lot to say,” Wildcat coach Brenda Mills said. “We struggled, and they have a solid defense.”
Kenzie Harrison and MaRyiah Cavender shared pitching duties in the first game, allowing 12 walks with four hit batsmen.
Marmaton Valley’s only offense came on singles by Tabitha Ford and Kaitlin Ensminger.
Cavender and Ensminger pitched in the nightcap, walking eight and allowing a combined nine hits.
Marmaton Valley did not collect a hit.
The games were moved from Moran to Jayhawk-Linn’s home diamond because of wet field conditions.
Marmaton Valley will host Burlingame Thursday, weather permitting.
Regional softball action begins next week in Uniontown.
