MV falls vs Lebo

Marmaton Valley's girls fell to 1A power Lebo on Tuesday night. Janae Granere had 16 points, but the Wildcats lost by 23 points.

LEBO — Marmaton Valley High’s grueling schedule will lighten up eventually, right?

Fresh off a tough loss against unbeaten St. Paul, the Wildcat girls hit the road Tuesday to face another Class 1A power in 13-1 Lebo.

The Wolves forged ahead by double digits at halftime and never looked back in a 55-32 victory.

The defeat drops the Wildcats to 7-5 on the season.

Lebo led 15-10 after one quarter and 30-20 at the break before putting the game away with a 10-5 run to span the third quarter.

Janae Granere scored 16 to lead the Wildcats, followed by Aly Ard with eight, Payton Scharff with six and Pauline Thery with two.

Brooklyn Jones scored 16 to lead a triumvirate of Lebo players in double figures. Abby Peek added 14 and Audrey Peek had 13.

The Wolves held a decided advantage at the line, hitting 15 of 26 charities. The Wildcats hit 8 of 12 from the line.

Lebo also prevailed, 24-12, in a two-quarter junior varsity game. Lexi Lowder scored seven and Haylee Lanham five for the Wildcat JV.

Marmaton Valley returns to action Friday against Yates Center for MV’s winter homecoming.
