HOWARD — West Elk made life miserable for Marmaton Valley High on both sides of the ball Friday.

The Patriots limited Marmaton Valley to 30 rushing yards and no first downs in a 50-0 victory to open the season.

Leading Marmaton Valley were Wes Lowder, who gained 24 yards rushing, and Will Lowder, who rushed for eight yards. Rylen McVey added five yards on three carries.

West Elk, conversely, rushed for 208 yards and seven touchdowns.
