OSAWATOMIE Mustang and Filly track and field returned to Osawatomie on Thursday for the Pioneer League Meet and came away with a third-place finish for the Iola boys and a fifth-place finish for the girls.
Jack Adams led the way for the boys with a Pioneer League title in the 3200 with a time of 10:43.92.
Out of all of the races he has had all season, this may have been his smartest race, head coach Dana Daugharthy said. While he did not set a personal record, he was able to beat some very good runners, one of which beat him at an earlier meet.
Adams ran with Burlingtons Seth Jarvis, who had beat him before and let him dictate the pace. In the final couple of laps, Adams made his move and took the lead.
Adams took second in the 1600 with a time of 4:54.76.
The boys 4×100 team consisting of Brett Willis, IJ Badders, Kolten LaCrone and Kobe Lord placed second with a time of 45.97, a personal best for the team.
Logan Brown took third in the shot put with a throw of 416 and Willis took third in the long jump with a distance of 193 which was a personal record by six inches.
Over the course of his freshman season, he has improved by two feet, Daugharthy said of Willis. If we can keep him working on exploding up as he hits the board, he has the potential and the speed to go even farther.
The 4×800 team of Tavon Bass, Ashton Olsten, Riley Jay and Cole Regehr finished third with a season-best time of 9:04.73. Both Bass and Jay ran personal record splits of 2:15 and Regehr had a season-best split of 2:12.
Jay also took fourth in the 1600 with a time of 5:03.52 which was a personal best by seven seconds.
Evan Casner took fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 17.67.
Lord took fourth in the long jump (182.75), fifth in the 200 (24.16) and sixth in the 100 (11.94).
Regehr took fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:13.91. It was a close race and Regehr missed out on third by a second.
Badders placed fifth in the long jump (181) and sixth in the triple jump (366) and Mat Karr took sixth in the shot put (394).
Morrison took sixth in the 3200 (11:21.60) and Karson McGraw took sixth in the pole vault with a height of 86.
