Mustangs, Fillies run third at Osawatomie

OSAWATOMIE — Iola High’s Mustangs and Fillies finished third in their respective divisions at the 2012 Osawatomie High Invitational track meet Thursday.

Spring Hill won the boys’ title with 124 points, followed by Osawatomie with 101. The Mustangs scored 89 points, just in front of Burlington at 82.

The girls’ title chase was close. Christ Prep, a private school from Kansas City, won with 113 points and Anderson County placed second with 110 points.

The Fillies were third with 108 points, followed by Spring Hill with 80. Medals were given to the top four finishers in each event.

Adam Kauth was the lone gold medal winner for the Mustangs. He won the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.1 seconds

A. Kauth claimed the silver medal in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 43.8 seconds. Teammate Garrett Prall was fourth in the intermediates in 47.3 seconds. 

A. Kauth also took bronze in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 8 inches.

Tyler McIntosh earned the silver medal in the long jump with a leap of 19’2”. He was fourth in the triple jump at 37’6”.

Michael Wilson claimed second in the pole vault at a height of 11 feet. Terrill Smith was sixth at 8’6”.

Roman Yocham ran second in the 3200 meters in 10 minutes, 37.5 seconds.

Jacob Harrison took the bronze medal in the 400-meter dash in 52.4 seconds. Tyler Powelson placed fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:11.7 and Devan Burton was sixth in the 100-meter dash in 11.9 seconds.

Eli Grover picked up the bronze medal in the discus event with a throw of 106 feet. Grover was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 39’1”.

The Mustangs’ 4×800-meter relay team of Jeremy Spears, Powelson, McIntosh and Christian Kauth finished fourth in 8:54.  In the 4×100-meter relay the foursome of A. Kauth, Fryenz Wallace, Harrison and Justin Baker was fourth in 46.6 seconds.

The 4×400-meter relay team of Harrison, McIntosh, Mikal Bossell and Wallace took fifth in 3:42.2.
