CHERRYVALE — Iola High’s junior varsity wrestlers got a workout Saturday. They each had at least four matches as they competed in the Cherryvale High Junior Varsity Invitational tournament.
Chase Roettgen took first place in his pool, pinning Cinnelio of Pittsburg and Collins of Independence. He lost 9-7 to Lindbloom of Frontenac and lost 19-7 to Hoagland of Erie.
Cody Conner posted a 4-1 mark overall and was second in his pool. His loss was a 15-2 decision to Craig of Frontenac. Conner later pinned Collier of Caney Valley, Whitt of Labette County, Colvard of Cherryvale and Kane of Erie.
Tristan Sigfusson went 1-1 in pool matches, beating Kelley of Labette County 6-2 and getting pinned by Lorenz of Fort Scott. He also was pinned by Fix of Parsons and Stanton of Caney Valley.
Also taking second in his pool was Quinton Morrison. He was pinned by Martinez of Parsons and pinned Lewis of Labette County. Morrison lost by a fall to Griffin of Caney Valley and Avales of Pittsburg.
Bryce Misenhelter was pinned by Wilson of Fort Scott and lost 10-3 to Shamblin of Caney Valley. He also was pinned by Reynolds and Ferguson, both of Burlington.
Travis Rieske was pinned by Daly of Fort Scott, Richesin of Caney Valley and Christman of Frontenac. Rieske pinned Nolen of Cherryvale.
Zeph Larney was pinned by Wools of Pittsburg then pinned by Coria of Erie. He lost 11-3 to Munday of Caney Valley and was pinned by VanManen of Caney Valley.
The tournament concluded the team’s action before Christmas.
