FORT SCOTT — Iola High’s junior varsity boys went 1-2 in play at the Fort Scott High JV Invitational. The Mustangs finished play in the round-robin event Saturday.
Iola lost to Fort Scott 39-24 Saturday morning. The Mustangs trailed 25-11 at halftime.
Trent Latta scored eight points for Iola. Devin Conner added seven and Tyler Powelson scored six.
Notching their first win of the season, the Mustangs beat Anderson County High 57-39. They were 8 of 19 at the free-throw line.
Conner paced the Mustangs with 14 points and Powelson had nine points. Adam Kauth fired in eight.
Mikal Bossell and Tyler McIntosh had seven points each. Latta and Eli Grover each scored five points and Tyler Clubine added two.
“I’m proud of our guys for getting better on the day,” said Dan Berg, IHS assistant coach. “I hope we can use this to play better to end the first part of our season.”
