Iola High’s junior varsity baseball team chalked up two wins at home Thursday night.

The Mustangs defeated visiting Independence High’s Bulldogs 6-3.

The teams were tied 5-5 after two innings in the second game. Independence scored two in the third and Iola got one run.

Down 7-6, Trent Latta worked a one-out walk in the Mustangs’ fifth inning. Latta stole both second and third bases and scored the equalizing run on a wild pitch.
