Murrow sisters sweep mile

CHERRYVALE — Tri-Valley League middle school coaches must have been excited to see that Tuesday’s league meet was the final time their teams would face Humboldt eighth-grader Isabelle Murrow.
Murrow won the 1600-meter run with a 6:32 and then took second in the 800-meter run with a 3:07 in Cherryvale on Tuesday.
The Murrow family isn’t done making things tough on those middle school coaches though as seventh-grader Kirstyn Murrow still has another season before making the jump to high school.
Kirstyn took first in both the 1600-meters (6:34) and 800-meters (3:01) to lead the Cubs to a second-place finish as a team.
Kirstyn’s teammate Kirsten Kobold took second in the 800-meters (3:02).
Madi White also had a great meet for the seventh-grade Cubs by finishing first in the 400-meters (1:10), second in the 200-meters (30:42) and third in the long jump (12’1.5”).
Katy Parker was second in the 400 meters with a 1:14.
Laken Hunter took first in the shot put (30’1.5”), second in the 100-meters (14.77) and fourth in the 200-meters (32.02).
Hunter, Murrow, Kobold and White joined forces in the medley relay to take first with a 2:15.
Brooklyn Ellis was fifth in the discus.
Ellis, Molly Schomaker, Peyten Galloway, and Parker took fifth in both the 4×200 relay (2:20) and 4×100 relay (1:05).
Isabelle Murrow wasn’t the only standout among the eight-graders, who took fifth as a team.
Madi Riebel led their other finishers with a second in the discus with a 75’11”.
Kennady Wilkerson, Murrow, Jessica Myers and Wilson took second in the medley relay with a 2:13.
Wilkerson, Riebel, Murrow and Myers took third in the 4×200 relay with a 2:11.
Myers added a fifth in the 400-meters and sixth in the 400-meters. Wilson was fifth in the long jump, fifth in the 200-meters and sixth in the 400-meters. Wilkerson and Kady Hart finished fifth and sixth in the 3,2000-meters.

BOYS
Drew Wilhite was the top finisher for the seventh-grade Cubs with a second in the 800-meters (2:37), a third in the long jump (13’11”) and a fifth in the high jump (4’4”).
Colton Johnson took fourth in the high jump (4’8”) and Andrew Watts took seventh in the shot (28’2”).
The eighth grade was led by Drake Harrington, who took second in the 800-meters (2:28) and sixth in the 400-meters (1:03).
Drew Schoendaller was fifth in the 1,600-meters with a 16:01 and Clay Shannon was fourth in the 75-meter hurdles with a 14:39.
Shannon, Trenton Heisler, Andrew Comstock and Sam Neeley took fifth in the 4×100 with a 1:02.
The eighth grade finished seventh and the seventh grade finished eighth as a team.
