Are you looking to mix things up on your lunch break? Well head over to Sharla Miller’s new Farm Bureau Financial Services office at 208 S. Washington for a chance at the charity stripe to win a prize from an Iola area-based business each Friday.

From 10 a.m. through 2 p.m., people of all ages are welcome to visit Miller’s new office to attempt 10 free throws. With the ongoing spread of coronavirus, Miller has set out basketballs along with a sign-up sheet outside of her building — meaning just show up, give your contact information, shoot, and record your score.

“With what has happened with this COVID-19, I wanted to do something to help stimulate the economy, and  I thought it would be something to bring the community together,” Miller said.

The basket is decorated with the logos of Iola High, Allen Community College, and her late son Matthew. The hoop is located front and center on the Farm Bureau Financial Services tall sign outside Miller’s office. Whoever makes the most free throws out of 10 attempts will win the prize.

In the case of a tie, a drawing will determine the winner. This Friday yours truly won the shootout by making 8 of 10 free throws to secure a gift certificate to Dudley’s Done Right BBQ. Next week’s winner will receive a certificate from TLC Greenhouse.

Each week, the winner will be announced at 3 p.m. on the Farm Bureau Financial Services Facebook page.
