HUMBOLDT — Two more nights of racing for Humboldt Speedway’s four regular divisions. Points championships are on the line.
The Speedway always has tremendous competition on the track in the pure stock, factory stock, B-Mods and modified divisions. It also features special races throughout the season.
On Friday night the American Small Car Series (ASCS) EcoTec Midgets made its first stop at a Kansas track in the 2011 season. And it was at Humboldt Speedway.
The reigning Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw champion Blake Hahn of Sapulpa, Okla., made his move to the front halfway through the 20-lap feature race. Kevin Beur, Bixby, Okla., had led after starting the race on the pole.
There were several midget car flip-overs but Hahn survived a late caution flag. It was his second career ASCS Midget win. Beur was second followed by Donnie Crawford, Colton Brever and Brian McClelland.
USMTS modifieds have found a good vibe at Humboldt Speedway.  After being rained out Aug. 12, the USMTS drivers are coming back to the local dirt track  Sept. 15.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and races begin at 8 p.m. The Speedway’s regular divisions will race but track points are not involved.
Fans who purchased tickets and pit passes on Aug. 12 can use those to attend on the rescheduled date.
Humboldt hosts a four-day USMTS event — King of American Modified Nationals — Oct. 19-22. Modified drivers will go after a $15,000 purse and over 150 drivers are expected.
The Speedway is selling tickets for all four-days for $75. After Sept. 1, single-day tickets will be available — $20 each for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and $25 for Saturday.
Jeremy Chambers powered his way to a feature victory in B-Mod  action Friday. Chambers charged to the front early and stayed there. Riley Whitworth ran second followed by Tim VanGotten, Jimmie Davis and Dalton Kirk rounding out the top five.
That tightened up the points race in the B-Mods. Kirk leads VanGotten by six points with two races left to decide the track championship. Davis is in third place trailing by 92 points.
In the modified feature, John Allen pulled a wire-to-wire run for the victory. Ryan Whitworth captured second place and Scott Daniels finished third. Johnny Bone Jr. took fourth and Justin Folk ran fifth.
Allen pulled a little closer to Justin Folk in the points race of the modifieds with the victory. Allen trails Folk by 44 points. Jesse Folk Jr. sits in third, down by 112 points and Riley Whitworth is fourth, down by 116 points.
Derek Michael claimed his second feature win of his rookie season in the pure stock division. He had to hold off a challenge by Levi Phillips, who ended up second.
Michael Aiello crossed the line in third place. Stetson Deets was fourth and George Reimer placed fifth.
Even though he didn’t finish last Friday’s race, Jeremy Willard  has a firm hold on the points lead in pure stock. Willard has 1,610 points and Phillips is in second with 1,360 points.
Jeremy Wilson, who leads the points race in his division, started in the rear of the factory stock field and roared to victory. He passed his brother Derrek Wilson for the win. Jeremy Wilson moved to 1,534 points to Derrek Wilson’s 1,491 points.
Billy Shadden ended up third in Friday’s race. Brandon Weide and Brennan Harp ran fourth and fifth.
There are 19 drivers who have perfect attendance with two nights of racing left.
Fans were also treated to the annual mechanics races. Curtis Wilson Sr. won in factory. Brent Barker was the winner in B-Mods and Abe Reimer took the pure stock division.
This Friday will feature powder puff races, vintage cars and it is Gates Rubber Company Night. The final points race night is Sept. 2.
The Speedway also has the Shriners’ Combine Derby slated for Sept. 10.
On Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, Humboldt is holding Challenge of the Champions with the four regular divisions roaring around the track again. Then comes the King of America Modified Championship, Oct. 19-22.
