It was a learning experience for the Marmaton Valley middle school volleyball team in Iola on Saturday. The Wildcats fielded four sixth-graders in their starting lineup, who were unable to cope with the competition.

The Wildcats lost to Chanute and Humboldt in two sets each. The Wildcats split sets in their matches against Iola and Independence.

The top scorer for the Wildcats was Lexyn Bracken with 26 points. Also leading Marmaton Valley were Jacee Mattox with 21 points, Kylah Sander 15 points, and Braelyn Sutton 14 points. Because of their youth,  these girls show the future of volleyball in Moran is bright.
