Middle school track round-up: Humboldt and Marmaton Valley

Humboldt Middle School and Marmaton Valley Junior High track teams were both in action last week. 

Humboldt competed at Yates Center on Tuesday and Neodesha on Monday while Marmaton Valley also competed at Yates Center and traveled to Northeast-Arma on Thursday. Below are their results: 

 

Humboldt 

At Yates Center, three of the four Cubs teams finished in the top three led by the eighth-grade girls who finished first. The seventh-grade boys took second, the eighth-grade boys third and the seventh-grade girls seventh. 

Elizabeth Melendez led the way for the eighth-grade Lady Cubs with a first-place finish in the 3200 with a time of 12:39.9. 

Melendez also took third in the 1600 with a time of 7:03. 

Karley Wools took first in the 400 (1:14.42) along with Melina Hess who finished on top in the 800 (3:10.20).

Morgan Hunter took third in the hurdles with a time of 14.92 and Kaitlyn Krone placed third in the discus with a distance of 69’02”. 

The medley relay team took first with a time of 2:17.10 and 4×100 team took second 1:03.78. 

For the seventh-grade boys, Sam Hull took first in the 400 with a time of 1:13.48 and Garren Goodner took second in the shot put with a distance of 28’8”. 

Byron Westbrook took third in the discus with a distance of 65’03” and third in the 200 with a time of 31.94. 

The seventh-grade boys medley took first with a time of 2:25.06 and the 4×100 team took second (1:03.78). 

Maddox Johnson led the way for the eighth-grade boys with a first-place finish in the discus (141’11”) and second in the shot put (38’07”). 

Javyn Hess took first in the 800 with a time of 2:39.15 and second in the 3200 (12:52).
