HUMBOLDT — Humboldt Speedway crowned its Mid-Season Points champions in all four divisions with its races Friday.
Earning the mid-season crowns were Ryan McAninish, USRA Modifieds, Jimmie Davis, B-Mods, Jeremy Wilson, Factory Stock, and Derrek Wilson, Pure Stock.
The honors were fitting after some of the most intense racing of the season, particularly in the Factory Stock feature.
Jeremy Wilson wrestled the lead away from Daryl Drake late in the race, the last of many lead changes, and claimed the victory. Drake took second, Tyler James claimed a hard fought third, while David Matlock was fourth, and Matt Haid fifth.
Derrek Wilson claimed Friday’s Whitworth Construction Pure Stock feature, but he had an aggressive Mike Churning applying maximum pressure from the runner-up spot. Mitchell Coulter finished third, while Don McIntosh was fourth and Tyler Hinrichs fifth.
Randy Zimmerman was the winner of the Ray’s Metal Depot B-Mod show for the third straight week, but Jeremy Chambers applied the pressure in a second-place finish that went down to the wire. Dakota Foster came in third, followed by Jimmie Davis and Blake Davis.
Reigning McCarthy Auto Group/USRA Modified points Champion John Allen put on what amounted to a driving clinic, turning in a flawless performance on his way to victory. Justin Rexwinkle came through the field to finish a strong second, with McAninish third, Scott Daniels fourth, and Dalton Kirk fifth.
The racing gets bumped up a couple of days this week, to Wednesday, for Independence Day. Special features include a $2,000 to win in Modifieds, extra money for B-Mods, and a huge fireworks show after the race.
There will be no Friday races this week.
