Marmaton Valley volleyball has been busy over the past several days. The varsity participated in the Humboldt Tournament on Saturday and the junior varsity played in the Fort Scott Invitational on Saturday in addition to playing Humboldt and Crest at Humboldt on Tuesday.
Humboldt Invitational
The Lady Wildcats fell 0-2 to Waverly to start the tournament (19-25, 21-25).
Paige Becker had 7 points, Bailey Griffith recorded 6 points and 3 kills and Patricia Outlan had 3 kills and 4 blocks.
They rebounded versus Yates Center, beating the other Wildcats 2-0 (25-20, 25-20).
Clara Boyd had 9 points while Becker had 7 points. Outlan soared with 11 kills.
They continued their success versus Altoona-Midway, grabbing their second sweep of the night 2-0 (25-6, 25-11).
Boyd had 11 points, Griffith had 9 points and Megan Ensminger had 7 points.
The wins ran out in set four. Marmaton Valley fell 0-2 to Pittsburg-Colgan.
Trinitee Gutierrez had 8 points, Outlan had 3 kills and 4 blocks and Griffith had 4 kills and 2 blocks.
The Lady Wildcats kept it close versus Marais des Cygnes but fell 2-0 (20-25,23-25)
Shayla Brooks recorded 6 points and 3 kills while Ensminger had 6 points and 3 kills and outlan had 5 kills.
To wrap it up, Marmaton Valley had a rematch with Yates Center with the blue and white Wildcats winning 2-1 (25-23, 11-25, 15-25).
Ensminger had 6 points and 3 kills, Brooks and Outlan had 5 kills and Griffith had 7 points and 5 kills.
Fort Scott Invitational
The junior varsity took on Iola to start off and split with the Fillies 1-1.
Haylee Meiwes had 4 aces and 2 kills while Sarah Spillman had 5 digs. Julianna Sprague had 3 assists.
Next, the Lady Wildcats beat Frontenac 2-0 (25-20, 25-18)
Mykayla Ard had 3 aces while Sprague had 3 assists and Rachel Schaffer had 2 blocks and 2 kills.
Marmaton Valley split their next game versus Central Heights (24-26, 25-13).
Kennadee Redburn had 6 aces while Meiwes had 4 aces and 2 kills. Ard had 3 kills and Spillman had 6 digs and 3 aces.
The Lady Wildcats fell to Paola 2-0 (25-15, 25-3).
Spillman had 3 digs, Meiwes had 2 kills and Kaylee Becker had a kill and 3 assists.
They closed out the tournament with a 2-0 win over Burlington (25-19, 25-23).
Sprague had 7 aces and 6 assists while Schaffer had 6 kills and Becker had 4 aces.
Versus Crest and Humboldt
Marmaton Valley opened up with Humboldt and kind of ran into a wall, falling in two sets (25-15, 25-13).
Meiwes held serve for five consecutive serves, Ard had 1 kill and Schaffer recorded a block.
Meanwhile for the Lady Cubs, Roni Bulk and Kirsten Rousch had 5 aces apiece while Maycie DeNoon led the way in kills with 4.
Bulk also led the team in assists with 5.
The Lady Wildcats took on Crest next, beating the Lady Lancers 2-0 (25-14, 25-10).
Spillman had 2 aces and 4 digs while Ard and Redburn both put in 6 and 3 aces respectively.
Kristen Lamb had 2 kills.
The Lady Cubs were victorious against the Lady Lancers, 2-0 (25-15, 25-14).
Madi Gean and Savanna Puckett led their team in kills with 4 apiece while Gean and Roni Bulk put up 5 assists each.
Kirsten Roush led Humboldt at the serving line with 9 aces.
