MORAN — Marmaton Valley High’s softball and baseball teams split Three Rivers League doubleheaders at home Thursday against Oswego High’s Indians.
The Wildcat girls were up 3-2 when Oswego scored four runs in the seventh to take the lead. Marmaton Valley got one run back but couldn’t keep the rally going losing 6-4.
Maggie Meiwes allowed four hits, walked four, hit one batter and struck out four in a losing effort.
Hannah Endicott and Kaitlin Ensminger each had a double for the Wildcats and Meiwes had two singles. Hitting a single each were Jamee McEndree, Cheyanne Miller, Kailey Boyd, Morgan Henry and Kacie Shadden.
In the second game, Meiwes limited the Indian girls to two hits. Marmaton Valley won 11-1 in a run-rule, five-inning game.
The Wildcats led 5-0 through two innings and had four runs in the third and two more in the fifth. Miller pounded out a single, a double and a triple. Shadden hit a triple and two singles.
Boyd connected for two base hits. Meiwes and Ensminger each had a single.
On the baseball field, the Wildcats were on the short end of an 11-2 score. Oswego used a five-run second to take control, leading 7-1.
Cole Becker took the loss on the mound as he allowed nine hits, walked four, hit one batter and struck out six. Becker hammered out two doubles for the Wildcat offense and Gage Stewart had two singles.
Hitting a single each for Marmaton Valley were Austin Harrison, Daylen Houk, Sage Hall and Chris Bowman.
Jimmy Frye held the Indians in check until the Wildcats finally could put hits together in an inning to score in the second game. Oswego scored a run in the first and led 1-0 until the sixth.
The Wildcats scored two runs in the sixth and led 2-1. The Indians tied the game up with a run in the top of the seventh.
Austin Harrison hit a ground-rule double with two gone in the bottom of the seventh inning. Becker hammered the baseball into right field for the walkoff winning hit. Becker drove in Harrison to win the game 3-2.
Frye got the complete-game victory as he gave up six hits, walked one and struck out six. He also had a single. Harrison and Hall each had a single and a double.
Houk doubled. Stewart hit two singles. Becker and Ryan Smith had a single apiece.
