The Marmaton Valley High School Wildcats picked up their first victories of the season after sweeping Pleasanton 14-12 and 15-5 Thursday.

Although handily defeating the Pleasanton BlueJays 15-5 in the finale, it took until the Wildcats’ final at-bat to seal their first victory of the 2025 season during the opener of the doubleheader.

An infield error tied the game at 12-12 with two outs before junior pitcher Tyler Lord’s blooping double in center field sealed the win for Marmaton Valley.

Lord, who started the contest, tallied five strikeouts to complement his team-leading three RBIs. Junior Garrett Morrison came on in relief for six strikeouts.

Senior catcher Dominic Smith had two RBIs while hitting in 3 of 4 appearances while Morrison hit 3 of 4 with an RBI.

Late-inning heroics were not required to secure the sweep in the finale.

A pair of four-run innings in the second and third, as well as three-run innings in the fourth and fifth secured the early stoppage.

Sophomore outfielder Brendon Newman had a team-leading four RBIs while hitting in 1 of 2 appearances with a walk.

Allee and Lord tied for second in RBIs with two each.

On the mound, Allee racked up seven strikeouts over four innings with Stevenson coming on in relief for a pair of strikeouts over an inning of work.
With the wins, the Wildcats improve to 2-4. Marmaton Valley returns to the diamond Monday to host the Oswego Indians. First pitches for both games are scheduled for 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.
