Marmaton Valley Junior High track compete at Iola and Jayhawk-Linn

Marmaton Valley Junior High track competed at two meets last weeks and came back with multiple top-eight finishes. 

On Tuesday, the Wildcats competed at the Terry Lower Invite in Iola at Municipal Stadium. 

The eighth-grade girls were led by Roslyn Houk who finished fifth followed by Tayven Sutton who took eighth in the 400 and Kaitlyn Drake who took eighth in the high jump. 

Evan Kent took third in the discus for the eighth-grade boys. 

Na’sha Gregory took fifth in the 100-meter hurdles and eighth in the 200 for the seventh-grade girls. 

Janae Granere won the long jump and finished second in the 400 and the 4×200 relay team of Raveyn Kegler, Payton Scharff, Granere and Gregory took fourth. 

Marmaton Valley then traveled to Jayhawk-Linn on Thursday. 

The seventh-grade girls’ team got third overall. 

Gregory took fourth in the 200 and third in the 100-meter hurdles. Granere won the 400 and the long jump with a distance of 15’4” which was a new school record. 

Kegler took third in the 400 and the 4×200 relay team of Gregory, Kegler, Granere and Scharff won the meet before the medley relay team consisting of the same four girls won that race as well. 

The eighth-grade girls also had a group of placers led by Lawson who took third in the 200. Sutton took fourth in the 400 and Drake finished fourth in the shot put. 

Bailey LaRue finished fourth in the shot put and the medley relay team of Drake, Lawson, Houk and Sutton finished fourth. 

The Wildcats will compete at Yates Center today before competing at Southern Coffey County’s meet in Burlington on Thursday.
