Marmaton Valley Junior High opens track season

The Marmaton Valley Junior High track and field team opened its season at Pleasanton on Tuesday.

While team scores were unavailable, the Wildcats had 13 events in which they finished in the top three.

For the seventh grade girls, Mallory Heim finished second in discus, Kaitlyn Drake finished second in long jump, Brynn Newman finished third in 1600-meter run and the seventh-grade girls medley of Drake, Newman, Roslyn Houk, and Tayven Sutton finished first.

The eighth-grade girls were led by a first-place finish in the discus from Carissa Mattox followed by a second-place finish in the shot put for Jada Harris and in the 200-meter run for Kamryn Boyd. Kit Stahl finished third in the discus and the medley team of Harris, Boyd, Cadence Cook and Aly Ard finished third.

The seventh-grade boys had one top-three finish. Dillon Mullinex came in third in the 200-meter run.

For the eighth-grade boys Quincy Adams placed in three events including a second-place finish in the 1600-meter run and first place finishes in the 75-meter hurdles and the 3200-meter run.
