Marmaton Valley Jr. High teams hit hardwood

Marmaton Valley Junior High's basketball teams traveled to Uniontown Tuesday as part of a busy start to the 2022 season.

UNIONTOWN — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s boys are still getting accustomed to the hardwood, head coach Byron Marshall said.

“We are a young team and need to handle physical play better,” Marshall said after the Wildcats dropped a 35-17 decision to Uniontown.

Marmaton Valley’s B team, meanwhile, eked out a 10-8 win in two quarters.

The Wildcat A team saw a balanced scoring attack in defeat. Dagan Barney scored six points to lead the way, followed by Ethan Lawson with four, Tucker Sutton with three and Cooper Scharff and Kaden McVey with two apiece.

Meanwhile, Kaden McVey scored six, while Kris McVey and Brady Burton both scored two in the B team contest.

IN GIRLS action, Marmaton Valley dropped the A team contest, 13-9, and the B team matchup, 9-8.

A-teamers leading Marmaton Valley were Emma Louk with four, Addisyn Drake with three and Myleigh Eslick with two.

Taylen Blevins, Andie Carr, Louk and Drake each had two points in the B team game.
