COLONY — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s Wildcat girls nabbed victories against host Crest Middle School’s Lady Lancers Thursday.
In A-team action, Marmaton Valley built a 22-7 halftime lead en route to a 39-19 win. Cheyenne English and Lindz McNeil each had 12 points each for the Wildcats.
Mackenzie Tynon added eight points. Scoring two each were Molly Hamlin, Emily Boyd and Mariah Root. Tessa Olson scored one point.
“Our team worked well passing, shooting and implementing the new plays we’ve introduced this week,” said Brenda Mills, MVJH girls’ coach.
Crest was led by Madison Kellar with six points and Karlee Hammond with four points. Scoring two points each were Madison Covey, Shelby Ramsey, Miranda Golden and Julie Hartman. Tiffany Jackman had one point.
In a two-quarter B-team game, Marmaton Valley outlasted Crest 8-6. The Wildcats got two points each from Kyla Drake, Tanna Lutz, Misty Storrer and Tynon.
Hammond scored all of Crest’s points.
Marmaton Valley goes to Garnett Monday to play St. Rose.
