PLEASANTON — Marmaton Valley High had its hands full Thursday.

The Wildcats dropped both games of their baseball doubleheader at Pleasanton, falling 16-1 and 22-11.

The defeats drop Marmaton Valley to 6-0 on the season headed into next Thursday’s doubleheader at Uniontown to wrap up the regular season.

Marmaton Valley came up empty in the first inning of Thursday’s opener, after Quincy Adams and Carter Burton both reached base with one out. A pair of pop flies kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard, however.

Adams, Robert Cook, Burton and Dylan Drake each hit singles to account for the Wildcats’ only tally of the contest. Adams and Burton both had a pair of singles. Cook and Drake singled once.

But Pleasanton already led 6-0 after one inning and 14-0 by the end of the second to keep things well in hand.

THE NIGHTCAP started with a boon for the Wildcats. Adams led off with a triple and scored on Burton’s base hit. Burton also scored, and Drake had a single in the frame for a 2-0 lead.

But the Blu-Jays responded with seven runs in the first and three in the second to take a 10-2 lead.

Back-to-back Pleasanton errors before Drake’s double sliced the gap. By the time Drake scampered across home plate in the third, MV was within 10-6.

Pleasanton kept up the pressure with two each in the third and fourth frames to lead 14-6.

Drake led off the fifth with a triple before Wyatt Ard socked a two-run home run. Adams reached base and Burton had a double to make it 14-11.

But the comeback ended there. Pleasanton erupted for six in the bottom of the inning to end the game.

Adams had a single and triple, Burton singled twice and doubled, Drake had a single, double and triple, and Ard went 1-for-3 with his home run.

The Wildcat softball team was idle.
