LE ROY — The Southern Coffey County High boys and girls basketball teams were each dealt double-digit losses to Lebo on Friday night.
The Titan boys fell to the Lebo Wolves 83-13 and the Titan girls fell 74-15.
Boys Basketball
Thomas Nickel and AJ DeAnda led the Titans on the hardwood with their seven and five points, respectively, for the offense. SCC’s defense, however, unraveled, allowing four Lebo scorers to finish in double figures.
The Titans were aided by Nickel’s pair of free throws in the opening quarter which was countered by Lebo scoring 31 points. The Wolves were led by Landon Grimmett and Andrew Konrade each scoring seven points in the first eight minutes.
Grimmett knocked down a three early on which he followed up with a pair of layups while Konrade hit a trio of two-pointers as well as a free throw. Grayson Shoemaker also hit a pair of two’s and a couple free throws while Dominic Risner nailed a three for the 31-2 lead.
Nickel scored a two-point basket for SCC’s second quarter points.
The Wolves responded in the second quarter with Zach Oswald banking in a trio of two-pointers as well as a couple of free throws. Luke Davies and Risner also scored five points apiece as each hit a three and a two-point basket.
SCC trailed Lebo at halftime, 63-4.
The Titans were able to get on the board more in the third quarter when DeAnda sank a three and went underneath for a layup and Nickel banked in a layup and John Rolf hit a free throw. Southern Coffey County squad trailed by 69 points heading to the fourth.
SCC’s defense showed more life in the second half when they held Lebo to 20 points, including two points in the fourth quarter alone. Grimmett hit a three and a two as well as a couple of free throws while Konrade and Oswald each had four points in the third.
Lebo’s only two points in the final quarter were delivered off the fingers of Konrade.
Nickel knocked down a free throw for Southern Coffey in the fourth to wrap up the 83-13 loss.
Girls Basketball
Karley Ohl and Jalea True led the Lady Titans in scoring with six and five points respectively. They were no match for the Wolves, though, who finished with three scorers in double figures, including a 27-point performance from Audrey Peek.
