COLONY — The Crest Lancers put to bed a five-game losing streak with a 44-35 win over Hartford.
For head coach Travis Hermreck, it wasn’t pretty, but he’ll take it.
“It was an ugly win to most, but coming off a five-game losing streak, it was a beautiful win to us. We got really tight in the last half of the fourth quarter,” Hermreck said. “I’m happy for the boys. The past few weeks it’s been one heartbreak after the other, but they stayed with it and stayed together. I hope this kickstarts a little streak of the other kind.”
Zach Beckmon led the Lancers with 22 points on 8 of 18 from the field. Kobey Miller was the only other Lancer landing in double figures with 11, including a pair of 3-pointers. The Lancers shot 50% inside the arc while Hartford fired a measly 22%.
The Lady Lancers were also in action on Tuesday, and were outscored by 12 in the first half en route to a 47-28 loss against Hartford. The Lady Lancers scored only 9 points in the first half.
Rylee Beckmon and Aubree Holloran finished as Crest’s leading scorer with 9 points each. The Lady Lancers battled in the second half, but couldn’t cut into Hartford’s lead as they were still outscored each period in the second half.
Crest still has a busy week ahead. The Lancers host Pleasanton on Thursday, and Oswego on Friday.
