Lifted by a slew of strong finishes in the relays and a few individual performances the Lancers finished fourth in the field Tuesday, but first among local competitors.
In team action, Crest’s 100-meter relay team composed of Xander Fuller, Daylan Nicholas, Gentry McGhee and Henry White took first. Fuller, Charlie Slyter, Kole Walter and Elijah Taylor later took fourth in the 400 relay and distance runners Walter, Taylor, Gunner Ellington and Grady Allen took second in the 800.
Individually, Walter took second in the 800 run. McGee took second in the 100 dash. Senior Ryan West took third in the 100 hurdles. Fuller took third in the 200. Ellington took third in the 3200 and fifth in the 1600.
With strong scores from the field, Marmaton Valley was not far behind Crest. Sophomore Dagan Barney first in discus while senior Brayden Lawson took fourth and sophomore Mason Ferguson fifth. Lawson took first in the shot put, senior Todd Stevenson took fifth in the long jump and the triple jump and freshman Bryant Uhlrich took fourth in the 300 hurdles.
In relay action, the 800-meter team composed of Colin Ard, Brendon Newman, Kameren McClenning and Uhlrich took fifth.
Humboldt finished just ahead of Yates Center for ninth place with javelin thrower Ty Shaughnessy taking second and senior Weston Johnson taking fourth. In shot put, senior Matthew McCullough took third and junior Thatcher Mueller took third in the 300 hurdles. Johnson, Karsen Lampe, Karen Lucero and Nathan Seibert also took fifth in the 100 relay.

Despite finishing just a few points behind Humboldt for 10th place, Yates Center had a few standout performances.
Freshmen hurdlers Marcus Cummings and Ben Cook took second and fourth respectively in the 110 hurdles. Cook and Cummings later assisted Jeremiah Jones, Gavin Busteed in taking fourth in the 100-meter relay.
