The Crest Lancers got back on the right track after sweeping Oswego 13-3 and 25-2 Monday.

After being on the wrong end of a sweep to Olpe, the Lancers rebounded with a blowout of the three Rivers League foe Oswego Indians and improved to 11-1 in conference play.

Freshman outfielder Kole Walter put the Lancers on the scoreboard after taking advantage of a first-inning catcher’s error, then senior pitcher Kade Nilges added another run with an RBI single, sophomore Paul Blaufuss, pinch running for Nilges, scored on another catcher error to make it 3-0.

Crest added runs in the second and third after capitalizing on another catcher error and a RBI grounder by freshman second baseman Will Disbrow, but busted the contest wide open with a seven-run fifth inning on RBIs from sophomore third baseman Roy Gordon, junior outfielder Henry White, freshman outfielder Koiy Miller, junior first baseman Drake Weir and Nilges.

Nilges picked up the win with nine strikeouts over 2⅔ innings, followed by Walter with three strikeouts and Weir with two while coming on in relief. Weir also had a team-leading two RBIs.

A 13-run fourth inning, made for a very lopsided second game.

Junior Jensen Barker picked up the win with a strikeout over 2⅔ innings while Miller had the team lead in strikeouts with a pair while relieving Barker in the third inning.

After picking up the win in the opener, Nilges had  big impact in the batter’s box with the senior racking up five RBIs. Nilges gave the Lancers a 1-3 lead on an RBI grounder, then a two-run RBI triple put the game out of reach before the Indians’ first at-bat. In the second inning, Nilges had another two-RBI triple when Weir’s RBI   single drove in Nilges to put Crest up 6-1.

Crest poured on the runs from there with Disbrow, Walter, Gordon and Barker driving in multiple runs before the fifth-inning mercy rule.

The Lancers look to take their Three Rivers League record to 13-1 when they head on the road to face Jayhawk-Linn Thursday.

First pitches for Thursday’s doubleheader are 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
