While the threat of inclement weather ran high on Friday evening, that didnt stop Crest and Marmaton Valley from battling it out on the hardwood. The Wildcats earned a come-from-behind win over the Lady Lancers, but the Marmaton Valley boys were not able to replicate the girls success.
GIRLS
Crest held a 29-25 advantage at the end of the first half. Leading the way for the Lady Lancers was Aubree Holloran, who finished with 18 points, 15 rebounds, and four assists. The strong effort by Holloran was not able to keep the Lady Lancers afloat.
Marmaton Valley outscored Crest 19-12 in the final period to capture the 54-50 win. Bailey Griffith and Mykayla Ard led the Wildcats offensively, finishing with 22 and 15 points respectively.
BOYS
Kobey Miller shot 5/13 from beyond the arc, scoring 23 points in Crests 67-25 victory over Marmaton Valley. The Lancers dominated the young Wildcats from the beginning, earning a 21-6 lead after the first period.
The Wildcats failed to take care of the basketball, turning the ball over 28 times. The sloppy offensive play turned to easy baskets for the Lancers in transition. Lancer Head Coach Travis Hermreck was left with nothing but positives in the 42-point victory.
We came out making shots, and kind of took them out early, Hermreck said. After two tough losses it felt good to get back in the win column.
