Lady Wildcats varsity squad splits at Southern Coffey County

Marmaton Valley headed to Le Roy Tuesday evening for some Three Rivers League action with Southern Coffey County and St. Paul.
The Lady Wildcats fell in the opener versus the host Lady Titans 2-0 (18-15, 25-23) before rebounding versus the Lady Indians in a two set win (25-18, 25-17).
In the opener, Clara Boyd led the way offensively, scoring 8 points while Shayla Brooks and Patricia Outlan chipped in three kills each.
Bailey Griffith scored four points on two kills and a team high two blocks in the loss.
In the win, it would be Boyd again leading the way, grabbing 10 points in the two sets. Paige Becker followed right behind with 8 points and Megan Ensminger scoring 7. Brooks added three kills and Outlan had a team high five kills and three blocks.
The junior varsity was also in action and split as well, beating Southern Coffey County in three sets (25-20, 16-25, 25-10) and losing to St. Paul 2-0 (25-17, 25-15)
In the win, Haylee Meiwes led the team in aces with four to go along with five kills while Rachel Schaffer also put away five kills. Kaylee Becker added four kills along with a team-high 8 assists.
Haylee Meiwes led the team in aces with four and  had five kills. Julianna Sprague perhaps had the most diverse evening recording three aces, three kills and five assists. Kennadee Redburn led the team in digs with four.
The Lady Indians gave Marmaton Valley some trouble offensively as Makayla Ard was the team leader for kills, recording just three to go along with five digs. Becker had three aces and two kills and Sarah Spillman put in some effort on the defensive end, leaving the match with five kills.
Up next, Marmaton Valley hosts Greenfield today.
