LE ROY — Three seniors played their last home game for Southern Coffey County High’s Lady Titans Friday. Their team made it a nice way to go out with a 63-25 win over Marmaton Valley High’s Wildcats.
“It was a good team effort tonight. Our girls came off the bench and gave us solid minutes. Everyone contributed,” said Jeff True, Lady Titans’ head coach.
The Lady Titans held a commanding 25-4 lead after one quarter of play. Southern Coffey County was up 44-9 on Marmaton Valley by intermission.
Seniors Ashton Isch, Katelyn Rogers and Taylor Stephens made their final appearance at home for SCCH. Isch rifled in 18 points for the Lady Titans, cleared eight rebounds and dished out nine assists.
“They were just a lot faster. We didn’t transition or get back on defense,” said Kent Houk, Marmaton Valley head coach. “(Ashton Isch) is pretty quick. She was up and down the court on us before we even knew what happened. She’s pretty darn good.”
Breanna Isch tossed in 12 and Sarah Webb contributed 10 points. Webb and Martyna Hegwald each pulled down eight rebounds.
Kailey Boyd paced the Wildcats with 11 points. The Wildcats were 5 of 14 from the free-throw line.
“Even when we were that far behind they kept trying. They didn’t quit but sometimes it’s just not there for you,” Houk said of his players.
The win put the Lady Titans at 7-8 for the season. The Wildcats dropped to 1-16.
Southern Coffey County is idle Tuesday then goes to Lebo next Friday.
Marmaton Valley hosts Chetopa Tuesday in Three Rivers League play.
In a two-quarter junior varsity game, Southern Coffey County won 24-12. Myranda Hegwald scored 11 points for the Lady Titans.
