LE ROY — With postseason looming next week, Southern Coffey County High’s basketball teams are enjoying being home this week.
In non-league contests Tuesday, the 10th-ranked Class 1A Lady Titans cruised past visiting Pleasanton High’s Blu-Jays 64-21. The Titans posted a decisive 59-44 win over the Blu-Jay boys.
Southern Coffey County’s girls improved to 15-4 overall and probably locked up the top-seed in next week’s Kansas Class 1A regional tournament, hosted by Pleasanton. The SCCH boys improved to 11-8, which moved them into a top four seed in the regional.
Regional seedings and pairings for the 1A teams were determined today.
The Titan teams host Lebo on Friday to close out the regular season.
Southern Coffey County’s girls left little to chance in a 23-2 first-quarter blitz against Pleasanton. They were up 38-11 at halftime.
Ashton GudenKauf led the way for the Lady Titans with 14 points. Kristen Garland and Kristin Stephens each chipped in with 12 points.
The Lady Titans hit 22 of 30 free throw tries. The Blu-Jays were 1 of 5 at the line.
Brytnee Streeter and Ka-resa Lewis each had six points for Pleasanton.
THE TITANS were up 20-12 after one quarter of play and put some distance between themselves and the Jays with a 18-7 run in the second period. Each team scored 11 points in the third and Pleasanton outscored the Titans 14-10 in the fourth.
KEWade Seabolt fired in 17 points for the Titans. Ben Spencer added 13 and Travis Bryan scored 12 points. The Titans were 3 of 12 at the free-throw line.
Pleasanton’s top scorer was Tyler Myrick with 19 points. Jon Ransier had 10 points. Pleasanton was 8 of 15 at the line.
