HAYS — The Southern Coffey County volleyball team came to the end of the road of its 2017 season Friday, falling in all three of its matches in pool play in the Class 1A state volleyball tournament at FHSU-Gross Memorial Coliseum Hays on Friday.
The Lady Titans close their season with a 26-15 record.
Southern Coffey County advanced to the state tournament for the first time since 2012 after running through the 1A-DI substate tournament hosted by Chetopa. From there they were seeded seventh in the state bracket.
Souther Coffey County opened up pool play with two-seed Sylvan Grove-Sylvan Lucas Unified and fell in straight sets (25-12, 25-23).
The Lady Titans followed that up with a matchup with three-seed Coldwater-South Central, falling in straight sets (25-12 25-14).
The Lady Titans closed the tournament out with a 2-0 loss to Atwood-Rawlins County (25-14, 25-22).
Southern Coffey County will lose four senior starters off this year’s team but will return the rest of their varsity lineup, including three junior starters in the hopes of making another run at the state tournament in 2018.
