COLONY — It wasn’t pretty. Wallop is just one of the words that could be used to describe how Southern Coffey County High’s Lady Titans handled Crest High’s Lady Lancers here Tuesday night.
The Lady Titans dominated from start to finish on the Lady Lancers home court, spanking Crest 52-17.
“We just couldn’t get any shots to fall,” said Daniel Buller, Crest head coach, referring to his teams early struggles offensively. “It was all downhill from there.”
In the second period Crest managed to produce some offense, its highest single quarter output of the game, but the Lady Titans fast-paced offense scored more. Led by senior Ashton Isch, the Titans took a 15-7 scoring run into halftime along with a 26-9 lead.
Any chance of a Crest comeback in the second half faded quickly in the third period. A pestering Lady Titan defense led to quick fastbreak baskets from Isch and junior Sarah Webb. Crest didn’t score its first points of the period until the :58 mark.
Buller said Southern Coffey County’s size added to his team’s struggles.
Isch led all players with 20 points, draining four three pointers along the way, followed by Webb with 9. Crest’s Katrina Strickler, Kurston Gilliland and Erica Holman tied for the team high with four points each.
