MOUND CITY — The Crest High softball team was batted down in their season opening losses at Jayhawk-Linn on Thursday.
The Lady Lancers (0-2) got behind early in both of their matchups and fell with final scores of 18-2 in the opener and 14-4 in game two.
Game one
Delaney Ramsey started at pitcher for Crest in the opener and was tagged for 11 runs in the first inning, on two hits. She walked eight batters and several Jayhawk runners advanced on passed balls.
Jayhawk-Linn led 18-0 by the end of the second inning.
Crest cut into the deficit in the top of the third inning when Brooklyn Jones and Allysa Adams each drove in one run.
Kinley Edgerton pitched in relief and allowed one run on three hits while recording two outs. Jones then pitched one inning and served up six runs on one hit with two strikeouts.
Game two
The story was much the same for Crest in the second game. Jones started in the pitching circle and allowed nine runs in two innings. Jayhawk-Linn tacked on a seven-run second inning.
Liliana Blaufuss came on in relief to pitch and gave up four runs through three innings of work. She walked six batters while Jones walked eight Jayhawk-Linn batters.
Crest’s Kaylee Allen drove in a team-high two runs while Aylee Beckmon and Blaufuss each knocked in one run. McKenna Hammond, Kayla Hermreck A. Beckmon and Haylee Beckmon each had two hits.
Crest travels to Chetopa Monday at 4:30 p.m.
