OSWEGO — The Crest High girls season came to an end in a Class 1A-I substate semifinal playoff game against Madison on Friday, 56-24.
The Lady Lancers (10-12) struggled to find any sort of offensive identity, especially in the first half, scoring two points in the first quarter and four more in the second.
Once Madison heated up from deep, it was a done deal for Crest.
McKenna Hammond posted the only two points of the first quarter on a layup before Aylee Beckmon and Kinley Edgerton each sank layups in the second.
It wasn’t enough against a Madison team which scored 16 points in the second quarter alone to take a 27-6 lead into the break.
Madison’s Sarah Miser scored seven in the first quarter. Jalynn Weakley scored six points on a trio of two-point baskets in the second period.
The Lady Lancers couldn’t get any closer the rest of the night.
Miser hit a couple of three’s and Reese Farrow and Weakley each knocked down treys in the third quarter for Madison. Hammond led Crest with four points in the quarter, but Madison led heading to the fourth, 44-13.
Karlee Boots added four points in the final quarter while Beckmon netted three.
Hammond and Beckmon each scored a team-high six points for Crest while Boots went for four points.
Haylee Beckmon and Hammond each played in their final high school basketball games for Crest.
