After failing to earn a conference win in the last two seasons, the Allen Community College volleyball team put old demons to bed on Wednesday night in Parsons.
The Lady Devils handled Labette Community College in three sets to start the Jayhawk Conference season 1-0.
ACC took all three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-23, and 25-15. A balanced attack saw Brittney Eskridge and Samantha Alexander earn eight kills apiece, along with seven from Adriana Santiago, and five courtesy of Aricah McCall.
Dishing out assists was first-year star Laia Jaca with 27, who also accumulated 15 digs on the back row. Celymar Canranes collected 10 digs. When it came to shutting down Labettes attack, Alejandra Handie earned six solo blocks.
Next up for the Lady Devils is a trip to Texas.
The Lady Devils open home conference play against seventh-ranked Cowley on Monday.
