The Allen Community College volleyball team came away with a 3-1 record at a two-day tournament in Highland over the weekend.
Allen faced off against four teams, Benedictines JV squad, Ellsworth Community College, Southwestern Iowa Community College and Iowa Lakes Community College.
The Lady Red Devils were sluggish in their start against Benedictine, which could be attributed to the long drive to the tournament. ACC was unable to muster much offense in the first two sets, losing 25-20 and 25-18. In the third set the Lady Devils seemed to wake up, despite losing that set as well.
ACC rebounded with a three-game sweep of Ellsworth by scores of 25-9, 29-27, and 25-20.
On Saturday, ACC routed Southwestern Iowa in four games. The Lady Devils took the first set 25-19, but took a step back after losing the second set 25-23. ACC rallied for the victory in the final two sets with scores of 25-17 and 25-18.
ACC capped off the tournament with its second three-game sweep over Iowa Lakes with 25-22, 25-20 and 25-18 set victories.
Highlighting the Lady Devils over the weekend were Sammie Alexander with 33 kills, Laia Jaca providing 124 assists, and Celymar Cabranes with 60 digs.
UP NEXT for the Lady Devils will be the opening of Jayhawk Conference play tonight in Labette at 6:30 p.m.
