The Lady Devils hosted two teams over the weekend in Jefferson College and Des Moines Area Community College and walked away on Saturday with a 1-3 record.
Overall, Allen County is 4-8 so far this season.
The Lady Devils opened the day with a 10-3 loss to Jefferson College.
Freshman third baseman Sam Greninger continued to excel, scoring three of the Lady Devils’ two runs on one hit. Sophomore pitcher Courtney Gard went 5.1 innings and gave up eight runs on six hits and four walks including a home run.
The Lady Devils rebounded in the second game versus Jefferson in a big way after falling behind 7-2 heading into the bottom of sixth. Allen County scored six runs in the final three innings while keeping the Vikings off the board for the rest of the game.
Freshman left fielder Alexey Lickteig scored on a two-run homer and Greninger drove in two runs. Freshman starter Abby Walker went seven innings and gave up seven runs (three earned) on 11 hits and three walks.
The Lady Devils went on to lose their next two games versus Des Moines 8-4 and 7-0.
Freshman starter Chelsey Henry earned the loss in the first game allowing seven runs on 11 hits and a walk and Gard went 4.2 innings allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walks. Two of the hits were home runs.
The Lady Devils will open up conference play at home on Wednesday with a doubleheader versus Highland on Wednesday.
